GARLIC BRAAI BREAD

  GARLIC BRAAI BREAD:   Ingredients: 1 baguette, about 40 cm long 1/4 cup butter, softened. 2 cloves garlic, minced. 1/4 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon black pepper 1/4 cup grated Cheddar/Parmesan cheese   Instructions:   1.     Preheat your grill or oven to medium heat. 2.     In a small bowl, combine the butter, garlic, salt, and pepper. 3.     Spread the garlic butter mixture all in cuts made about 2cm apart and 3/4 through or over the baguette, making sure to get into all the nooks and crannies. 4.     Sprinkle the Parmesan cheese over the top. 5.     If you are grilling the bread, wrap in aluminum foil and then place it on the grill directly over the heat. Grill for 5-7 minutes per side, or until the bread is go lden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly. 6.     If you are baking the bread, wrap it in aluminum foil and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the bread is heated through and the cheese are melted and bubbly. 7.     Serve hot and enjoy Tips:   For a more intense garlic

VETKOEK AND CURRY MINCE

VETKOEK

A MEAL ON ITS OWN

INGREDIENTS:

1 cup of warm water

1 teaspoon of sugar

2 teaspoons active dry yeast

2 tablespoons butter, melted

1 teaspoon of salt

2 cups cake flour

Oil, for frying.


VETKOEK GEBAK IN SONNEBLOM OLIE

 

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Mix the warm water, sugar and yeast in a bowl. Leave for 5 minutes, or until the yeast is foamy.

2. Stir in the butter, salt and flour until a dough forms.

3. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5 minutes, or until smooth and elastic. Repeat again after a few minutes to make sure it is well kneaded.

4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and leave to rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

5. Press the dough down and divide it into 6 equal pieces.

6. Roll each piece of dough into a ball and then flatten it into a disc.

7. Heat the oil in a large pan over medium heat.

8. Fry the fat cakes in batches for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown.

9. Drain the fat cakes on paper towels and serve warm.

SERVE WARM WITH FILLING TO YOUR TASTE:
